Where is Menton
Menton is situated on the far south eastern coast of France and is the last town before you skip across the border into Italy. it's a small and an old town with a history that has seen it bounced between French and Italian ownership via the way of the Grimaldi family and Monaco.
The flavour of Menton is decidedly Italian, although it has long since been in the favour of British visitors, and it is the perfect gateway to ease you into Italian culture, cuisine and architecture.

The nearest airport to Menton is Nice Cote d'Azur International airport. The town is well serviced by public transport that is both reliable and regular so it is easily accessible by road, rail and bus links as well as helicopter charter and private boat.
Nestled between the principality of Monaco and the Italian border, framed by the climbing hills of the Alpes Maritimes and the clear waters of the Mediterranean sea Menton has much to offer by way of diversity from neighbouring mountain top villages to the quaint streets of the Old Town. The surrounding mountains mean that Menton has a unique micro climate ensuring it's fame as the 'sunniest place on the Cote d'Azur' and it's popularity as a year round holiday destination.
The population of Menton is almost 30,000 people putting it on a par, in size, with Monaco. However, as with all the towns dotted along the Cote d'Azur, the population swells significantly in the summer and festival months to almost 80,000 so it has a very vibrant and lively atmosphere.
Menton began as an Italian town and that is very much still in evidence in the architecture, the cuisine and the feel of the town, it is quite unique from other French towns. Many restaurants maintain an Italian influence and there is a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to this French town that remains very Italian. Menton is also twinned with Baden-Baden, Germany, Namur, Belgium and Valencia, Spain.
