Beausoleil grew up as a town at the same time as there was heavy construction work going on in Monaco in the 1800's. The boom in construction work coincided with a downturn of fortunes across the border in Italy, the region of Piedmont in particular. Families flocked to find work and built their new homes next door to the construction site that was Monaco. To this day the cultural effect is still felt in Beausoleil with the Italian influence notable everywhere, especially in the food.
