MONACO

What to do in Monaco

For families

Monaco has a reputation for being the playground of the rich and famous and hence, carries with it a reputation for being expensive, exclusive and, to a majority of the population, elusive and inaccessible to an average family or holidaymaker. It is true that Monaco is certainly a summer playground and it helps if your budget is unlimited but that doesn't mean that it's impossible to have a reasonably priced holiday or one that is suitable for children.

Walk Monaco GP track.
Monaco is famous for it's Grand Prix race in May and all year long you can see evidence of this famous race. If you can't make it to the race itself then it is still exciting to see the red and white striped curbs, walk the infamous tunnel and end up in Casino square.

Views are spectacular over the port, there's an ice cream parlour outside the Cafe de Paris at highest point on the track and visit Prince Albert's own private car collection.
Toyota hit's the track
Tip: Watch Qualifying for the F1 race

Qualifying is a great and cheaper option If the race itself proves to expensive for the whole family

Les Thermes Marin is one of the most established and grandest Spa's in Monaco. Looking out over the Port from its elevated positon behind the Casino it offers stunning views as well as sea water therapies and guaranteed relaxation.

They welcome day trippers, for a price naturally, but it's worth it for the sheer joy and relaxation of being able to lie out on their sun terrace alone. It won't exactly inspire you into the gym especially not when there's waiter service too.
Tip: There is an excellent restaurant.

Take a Helicopter ride
This is the best way to get to Monaco from Nice Cote D'Azur airport. The price is based on a per person sharing, so if you are with a group of friends it makes it well worth paying that little bit more.

With rates starting from 55 Euro per person it's not much more than taking a taxi by yourself and it's infinitely more memorable. Go to RG guide for contact numbers of the companies that operate out of Nice airport and take a ride.

Go to Monaco Beach
Monaco beach is gorgeous, it is man made and stony, as most of the beaches East of Cannes are, but it looks as if each tiny pepple has been personally interviewed for the position.

They are small enough and smooth enough to make a good impersonation of sand so you can lie out in comfort. The beach clubs are a cool places to hang out with food and drink on tap and live music in some.
