For familiesMont Boron is a suburb of Nice so, while it's not a huge place, it has lots of things to do and see for all the family. Nice is a particularly good city to travel to if you have a family. A lot of 'city break' holidays are geared more towards adults, couples and more cultural activites but Nice city has the benefit of that beautiful sweeping coastline with it's miles of beaches as well as being a regular, busy, working town.
Mont Boron has 57 hectares of national parkland and 11km of footpaths to explore. Climb up the hill to find great view points for pictures and wind your way through the woodland paths to find a shady spot.
Up here there is also the Fort de Mont Alban to discover bringing that sense of history and time to the fore. twinned with the Citadelle in Villefranche it performed an important defensive role for the area. Bring food, drinks and your camera.
The number 14 bus will get you up onto the hill and into the park if you don't have a hire car.
|
From Mont Boron, you have the advantage of being close to several beaches. Nice beach is just a short hop away from Mont Boron while on the other side of the hill you have Villfranche stretched out in front of you too. Nice is a pebble beach which stretches for 7km. It's a busy city beach with lots of young people and an ebulent sea.
Villefranche is a smaller, more sheltered beach and is perhaps a better choice if you have younger children and need a calmer sea. Both beaches have easy access, plenty of facilities and other activities close to hand.
Choose your beach club carefully
If you go to a beach club look for the ones that are more suitable for children, with beach toys, swings, slides and activities.

Mont Boron is thought to have been one of the first areas in this immediate region to have been inhabited by people. The history of Nice dates back nearly 400,000 years with archaeologists having found evidence to support this theory on Mont Boron.
Check out the Musee de Terra Amata which will take you on a journey through the ages of man from our earliest beginings. There are exhibitions on the origins of mans use of fire, how we lived, hunted, survived and advanced through to modern time.

For CouplesMont Boron is a really pretty and secluded suburb of Nice. It's close to the city and Nice beaches but it is a quiet, leafy spot with national park areas for long romantic walks and absolutely lovely views over the Cote d'Azur.
| Mont Boron is an exclusive part of Nice where wealthy residents mix with foreign celebrities and visitors. You'll find this reflected in the villas, houses and architecture as you wander in the neighbourhood.

This pink fairytale castle is now private apartments. You'll also see examples of Italian style decorated villas and architecture from the Belle Epoch era. |
These villas are all near or beside 'Pont de Vue' which are to facilitate you stopping and looking.
|
| Mont Boron is very small so there are not a great selection of restaurants in the immediate vicinity. You are however very close to Nice Old Town and Nice port where you'll find any number of restaurants for any budget.
For something a little bit special try the 'Le Mélisande' restaurant in Mont Boron. The setting is sumptuous, romantic decor with sea views and the menu is local produce and traditional dishes. See the RG DIrectory for contact details and more restaurants in or near Mont Boron. Look under 'Nice'. |
