You can never overdress for St Tropez, even if you are just going to the beach. It is a chance to dress up and wear the most impractical, outrageous, beautiful or expensive things that you have in your wardrobe. Anything goes, so long as it's fabulous. Bikinis and high heels are de rigeur.
St Tropez Insider Tip 2
Get some wheels.
They don't have to be this exotic. The beach in Saint Tropez is not actually in the town. It's around the headland of the peninsula and is a steep climb or a long walk to get to by foot. If you haven't got a boat then the best answer is to hire some wheels. Even if it's just a bike it'll make life easier.
St Tropez Insider Tip 3
Beat the Traffic
The traffic in Saint Tropez in the summer months is a nightmare. There is one road in and one road out and everyone has got to use it. Beat the traffic by travelling at different times than the crowd. Get to the beach very early in the morning and either leave before the evening rush or plan on staying there later than eveyone else. Alternatively travel by sea or by helicopter.
St Tropez Insider Tip 4
Plan your holiday
Saint Tropez is the height of fashion and as a consequence it's smart boutique stores only stock the height of fashion too. Prices can be expensive but the stores are also very 'season' orientated so there are great end of season sales with up to 80% off in some cases. Plan to visit at sale time.
St Tropez Insider Tip 5
Dress Appropriately
It's true almost anything goes but only in the right place at the right time. Walking around town in nothing but your bikini in the evening will be frowned upon, even if you are Pamela Anderson. Getting it right means being 'in'.
