Winter sun |
| The French Riviera is famous for its year round mild climate. As a tourist destination it gained notoriety in the 1800's when foreign nobility and royals began to visit in the winter months to escape their own harsh climates and physicians recommended the health benefits of the sea air. |
 |
All Year Long |
| It's not difficult to imagine that a pre centrally heated cold wet castle in England or Russia was a stark contrast to the soft winter days in Villefranche or Cannes. |
Of course now, the South of France is popular all year round and the mild climate is not quite as important as the clarity of the days and the real 'off season' attraction of the Cote d'Azur is the clear, endless blue skies when other parts of Europe are cloaked in a blanket of cloud.

Port Grimaud in Summer |
| Summer is obviously a great time to visit in terms of the weather. The sun is high and the sea is warm. It's a great time to get out on the water and the atmosphere is contagious. |
It is impossible not to be touched by the 'holiday' spirit and when everyone else seems to be 'at play' then it is easier to relax and join in. It is busy but the towns play host vey well and organise lots of events, concerts, exhibitions, fetes and amusements so everyone is very well catered for.
 |
Port Grimaud in Winter |
| Winter is a much quieter time, especially on this part of the coast where the summer season is so significant. The local population shrinks back to its normal size and there is a subconscious release of breath as the pace slows and things return to normal for the locals. |
It is a very pleasant time of year if you like things a little more peaceful, the pace a little slow, the locals a little more relaxed. It might mean that some places are closed, restaurants or museums for renovations or a well earned rest, but you cannot 'close' the natural beauty of the South of France nor turn off the sun.
If you like the idea of Port Grimaud for your vacation or holiday and would like to view available vacation homes here then please use the facility below or click on 'Browse rental' in the main menu.
