The traditional cuisine in St Tropez is a light Mediterranean menu with a strong emphasis on fish as this is a fishing village and it is usually of the highest and freshest standard. You will find all the usual pasta and pizza dishes too as well as ice cream parlours and some wonderful patisseries
As with almost every town in France there is a local speciality too. La Tarte Tropeziennes came to St Tropez with it's creator Alexandre Micka. A recipe that he brought with him from his Polish Grandmother, this extravagant cream cake gained notoriety on a certain film set that was also just about to become notorious.
Micka had been asked to cater for the film crew of the Brigitte Bardot launch film, 'And God Created Women'. Le Club 55 is one of the longest standing beach clubs. The clientèle tend to be wealthy, famous or both and the atmosphere is more modestly restrained than some of the other beach clubs. The food is exceptional, the fish in particular and dishes to try are the sea bass and the raw vegetable plate with anchovy butter.

From the outside Cafe de Paris looks like any other port side cafe with tables arranged facing out to sea. Inside the décor is much more sumptuous with red velvet banquettes and a long brasserie style bar. This restaurant is trendy, with sushi as it's speciality but the ambiance is old school glamour. Inside is much more sumptuous that the exterior but it's right at the heart of the port so it's great to watch the world go by.

For a very special night out try Spoon at the infamous Tropezienne Hotel, Le Byblos. The hotel is very beautiful built around a courtyard framed with typical Provençal stone buildings, it is not at all imposing rather intimate and friendly despite its luxury.The restaurant has won several awards and chef Gearges Pelissier is an former pupil of Alain Ducasse.
