The information below will tell you where it is, how far it is and what are the best ways to get to Eze sur Mer once you are in the South of France.

getting around Eze sur Mer

Taxi in Eze Bord de Mer
Eze sur Mer by Taxi
If you arrive into Nice Cote D'Azur airport there is a Taxi rank just outside the door of the arrivals halls of both terminal one and terminal two. It is not the cheapest way to travel on the French Riviera and locals do not use the cabs in the same manner as Londoners or New Yorkers.

Prices will vary depending on the time of night and the amount of luggage you have but you can expect to pay between €45 and €55 to get to Eze. Local operators are available once you are in Eze.
Tip: Agree the price before you leave.

Have your destination written down if you struggle with French pronunciation.

Train station in Eze
Eze sur Mer by Train
The train is a great way to get in and out of Eze sur Mer as the train line runs parallel to the coast and right through the seafront. There is no rail link with Nice airport however so it works best when you are already in the South of France.

Trains run until midnight and there are summer tickets available for better fares. Look online for Carte Isabel during the summer months or ask at the main stations for ticket offers. Buses remain the most economical way to travel.
Tip:don't confuse Eze and Eze sur Mer

The village is not accessible by train and it's a long and steep hike if you end up doing it on foot. To be avoided.

Eze sur Mer by bus
The buses run every 15 minutes until 10pm whereby the the night service 'Noc'Tam' bus takes over. They have made all their pricing structures very clear and simple. The bus to Eze sur mer runs between Nice and Menton and is the number 100.

Buses leave from Nice airport also although you may have to make a connection at the main bus station in Nice. The bus fares are €1.00 per journey and you can buy day tickets for €4.00. Single tickets are can be bought on the bus but have the right change.
You are now entering Eze sur Mer, South of France
Tip: Buy day or week passes for unlimited travel

The buses are the cheapest and most regular way to get around. Although not the fastest they are also the most scenic.

Getting around by bus

The bus service has undergone some changes in recent years. The need to standardise fares was over due and this year fares have dropped again from €1.30 to the basic €1.00per journey. The bus routes are clearly marked and the bus station is easy to find your way around. The buses connect to the train stations and are usually scheduled to coincide with the train timetables.

You can buy books of tickets or day passes or week passes which offer great value for money if you are hopping on and off the buses all the time. Go to the main station at either the airport or in central Nice. For day passes you can buy these on the buses if your language skills can handle it. Not many of the drivers speak English, although there is usually always a helpful passenger around to help you.

For Eze sur Mer there are several buses that you can avail of including the night bus which runs on the weekends from Thursdays to Saturdays. The main bus route from Nice to Eze sur Mer is the L100 which runs every 20 miutes and takes about half an hour. The website has also recently had a facelift and is now available in several languages. Look in the RG directory under 'Transport' for contact information.

There are also buses that run between the corniche roads including stops at the village of Eze and Col d'Eze on the Grande Corniche. These routes are:

L112 from Nice to Eze village en route to Beausoleil which go every 20 minutes and takes about 20 minutes.

L82 from Nice to Eze village and on to Col d'Eze and Plateau de la Justice, takes about twenty minutes to the village and runs 7 times per day so you need to check timetables.

L83 from Eze village to Eze sur Mer also runs 7 times per day and takes half an hour.

Timetables are available online or in the bus stations. Check the village names that the routes pass through so you know in which direction you are heading and also where to get off. It may sound simple but it is a lot easier to know where to get off if you know the stop before and after.

Eze sur Mer by car
Eze sur Mer is situated on the coast road that runs between Nice and Menton called the Basse Corniche or the RN98. It is a well signposted easy road to find if you are already on the coast, just follow the sea.

The best motorway exit to take is Junction 57 of the A8 which is signposted for La Turbie. From there you take a right turn before the village on to the Grande Corniche road or the Route de Nice and follow signs for Eze or the D45. You can also use the Monaco exit at Junction 56 which will lead you onto the Moyenne Corniche.
Basse Corniche winding it's way to Eze, South of France
Tip: Traffic can be heavy on the Basse Corniche

The Basse Corniche is very pretty and scenic as it winds it's way along every inch of the seafront so it is popular.

The coastline stretching from Eze to Cap d'Ail, South of France
Eze sur Mer by air
This is by far the most glamourous way to arrive although, unless you have a helipad at your holiday villa, then the closest heliport is in Monaco's Fontvieille district.

Heliair Monaco do scheduled flights from Nice to Monaco with prices starting at €99 per person for a single ticket which is not unreasonable given the views. You can also hire an exclusive trip for €605 each way for upto 5 people.
Tip:It's the fast track

The journey takes just 7 minutes although to get to Eze sur Mer you will have to go by train, taxi or bus

Blue yonder in Eze-sur-Mer, France
Eze sur Mer by sea
With regards to getting to Eze-sur-Mer by sea there are no other options than by doing so under your own steam. There is a small private marina for a just a handful of boats but there is no service operating in or out of this narrow strip of sea front.

It may seem like an inconvenience but it lends itself to the upkeep of the exclusive feel of this sea side town.

Drop anchor in your own vessel and enjoy the looming solitude of the mountains or swim in the clean and quiet waters here.
Tip:Small boats can make it to the beach

There is a channel for small boats and tenders to deposit on the beach so you can gain access to the beach clubs and restaurants.
