Toulon is located on the French Riviera in the Var department between Nice, 159 kilometres to the east, and Marseille, 65 kilometres to the west. The journey times by car are approximately 2 hours and 1 hour 15 minutes respectively.
Toulon is a coastal town with a population of 168,200 but rises to 584 metres above sea level at it's highest point of Le Mont Faron. It is a university town also and so has a student population of 10,000. The nearest airport is Toulon-Hyeres which is east of the city and takes about 20 minutes to drive from the centre ville, 700,000 passengers are said to pass through it's doors each year.
Toulons nearest neighbours are Le Seyne-sur-Mer to the west and Hyeres to the east.
