MONACO YACHT SHOW
Monaco, mid September - late September
“Free man, you will always cherish the sea” - Baudelaire
This years Monaco Yacht Show on the French Riviera is the 17th boat show since its inception and it is the only yacht show in the world that caters exclusively to that most exclusive of exclusive industries, the superyacht.
A superyacht is, for this purpose, defined by size with boats of not less than 30m or 100ft being included in the show. Although you could argue the case for smaller vessels on the strength of luxurious fit and custom design, of which there are no shortage of such vessels in Monaco or in any of the ports on the French Riviera.
Each year has seen the Monaco Yacht Show grow in size on a par with the booming industry of custom built luxury boats. This year the order books of the worlds private shipyards are showing 545 superyachts in build, some of which are due for delivery at the Monaco Boat Show.
This is a staggering number given the initial size and expense of building these magnificent yachts not to mention the continuing running costs and the Monaco Yacht Show is the show for all sectors of the industry, from luxury interiors to technical suppliers, to demonstrate and communicate directly with their customers, old and new, all in the beautiful setting of one of the French Rivieras most glamourous city's.
This years show, with an obligatory criteria of being luxury goods or services suppliers, will see more than 500 exhibitors from 38 different countries occupy 9000sq metres for the expected 24,000 visitors to peruse.
There will be special builds unveiled, famous Superyachts on show, luxury products from bathroom fittings to diner services displayed as well as business services, meeting rooms and social events on offer. It has become the place to do buiness, have a little fun and enjoy the sight of some of the most magnificent floating palaces the industry has to offer.
There are water taxis, a champagne bar, courtesy limousines and a sushi deli to help you pass the day and failing all that you can always skive off and take a break from it all in Monte Carlo's famous casino or Monaco's own bars and restaurants.
The Monaco Yacht Show runs from the 19th September to 22nd September and visitors and tourists can expect to find Monaco alive and busy with all the shows visitors. As with the Cannes film festival or the Nice Jazz festival, the Monaco Yacht Show fills the streets, the bars, restaurants and clubs with visitors and many private, luxury apartments are buzzing with parties and dinners.
