ROSE BALL 2010
Monaco, late March
The annual Rose ball in Monaco will take place on 27th March 2010.
The Rose ball is an annual star studded event in the glamorous principality of Monaco. The inaugural event was staged by Princess Grace in 1954 with proceeds raised going to the Princess Grace foundation. This event has grown throughout the years to become a central event on the Monte Carlo social calendar.
With the Salle des Etoiles decorated with 25,000 roses it is not just the fragrance that provides the heady atmosphere. Although the prestige event is not by invitation only, tickets cost 750 per person, it is jam packed with celebrity residents and many of the worlds rich and famous who never fail to support the benign philanthropies of the Monaco Royals.
Every year a different theme inspires the guests to new designer garb heights. 2009 the theme was 'Rock n Rose' and saw the men playing it safe in their simple Tuxedos but the women stepping out in leather bodiced ball gowns, crash helmets serving as flower baskets, a few teased back-combed heads and more than one fingerless biker glove. Previous themes have included Jamaican Reggae, Spanish Movida and a more simple orange colour theme.
Legendary singer Chuck Berry rocked the hall for the wealthy revellers and Prince Albert lead his quiffed girlfriend onto the dance floor. Guests included Ivana Trump, Dame Shirley Bassey, designers Karl Lagerfeld and Isabell Kristensen and model Victoria Silvstedt.
The theme for 2010's Bal de Rose has not yet been decided but for some the dress code of designer evening wear is enough to get excited about. Book your tickets through Monte Carlo SBM and look out for our Monaco penthouse apartment to compete your stylish holiday in Monaco.
