 Fashion fabulous at the Monaco Grand Prix.
The Monaco Grand Prix is known as the glitziest and most glamourous race on the Formula One Calendar usually attributed to the caliber of the the visiting celebrities and residents of the exciting Principality and less so to the hard working drivers.
In fact driving the Formula One cars is perhaps the least glamourous job of the Formula One Grand Prix circus as temperatures in the car can soar to 52 degress celsius and the drivers overalls are made of triple layered 100% synthetic fireproof material. Glamourous? Sweaty, I think is the more appropriate word.
However this year the drivers are getting a chance to strut their stuff and show off some of those fine physiques that are usually tucked away in their F1 cars as some of them will take to the catwalk to model a range of luxury menswear. All in the name of charity no less and good for them.
In an event on Friday evening, that promises to be star studded, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Vitantonia Liuzzi, Mark Webber, David Coulthard, Nico Rosberg, Nelson Piquet Junior and Adrian Sulti will walk the walk to model for Petra Ecclestone's new range of menswear called FORM.
The daughter of Formula One supremo, Bernie Ecclestone, Petra has turned her hand to fashion after a variety of careers from modelling to photography. Showing some of the same determination that her notorious father is famous for she has shunned the idea of a gap year and has launched herself into her new career. With the combination of great advice and fantastic genes she will no doubt excel at her new venture.
The fashion event at this years Monaco Grand Prix has become an annual event with the wives and girlfriends of the drivers often getting involved. A charity benefit, this years auction funds will go to the Elton John Aids Foundation and one of the donated items up for grabs will be an Elton John piano signed by 17 international artists and used by Elton himself to compose and record his album, 'Songs from the West Coast'.
Tamara Ecclestone will help to host the event making it a real Ecclestone family affair and no doubt Bernie and Slavica will be out in force showing their support if not their cash. Formula One and fashion unite for a good cause in a great location on one of the best weekends in the Formula One calendar, not to be missed. |
