It is that time of year again. For some it's the summer solstice, 21st June and the longest day of the year but across France and increasingly across the world, it is also a day of music. The annual Fete de la Musique has rolled around once again gathering eternal momentum and unleashing the sound of every genre of music onto the streets and out into the world for everyone to hear.
This years Fete is following the loose theme of 'musique au feminin' or 'music of women' whether that is singers, composers, muse or DJ's, it aims to celebrate legendary performers from bluesy jazz to rock and pop, from soaring Opera to orchestral instrumentalists. Fete de la Musique is singing in a feminine voice throughout the participating countries.
All the concerts are free and aim to bring genres together and introduce audiences to new music and to have good time in the process.
There will be more than 50 events staged throughout the region and they will be unavoidable. Simply take to the streets and drift from one aural pleasure to the next. Find detailed descriptions of the many events in Cannes, Monaco, Nice and beyond on the Fetes de la Musique website. |
