The Cannes Film Festival 2010 is shaping up to be a big Hollywood bonanza, although is it ever anything else you might ask? After the subdued "recession effect" of last years Film Festival, where the parties were scaled back and a few less champagne corks were popped, in sympathy for the woes of the economic world and the plight of the masses, it feels like the right time for Hollywood to come out and play again in 2010.
This year's build up has the feeling that it'll be alright to let loose again, that the wine might yet again flow in abundant abandon. Oliver Stone is looking to launch the sequel to 80's classic "Wall Street", while Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood" remake is tipped for opening night and Woody Allen will hopefully be showing his typical ensemble cast in his new movie, "You will meet a Tall, Dark Stranger"
A revisit to the eighties? A Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchet Gladiator style extravaganza and a Woody Allen ensemble that includes the legend, Anthony Hopkins, the starlet, Naomi Watts, the dashing dark handsome, Antonio Banderas and the dashing fair handsome, Josh Brolin? It is going to be a wall to wall Hollywood A list outing in Cannes this year and a return to the full on, all out 'glamorama' that The Cannes Film Festival should be.
You may not be on the panel but it is the perfect opportunity to soak up some Hollywood atmosphere and star spot. Cannes during film week is fantastically atmospheric where even the paparazzi dress in black tie, in the mid day sun. The town lays on general public events with open air cinema screenings of movie classics and if you are not star spotting then just maybe you'll be star spotted.
