 There is no stopping the world famous material girl as she takes to the touring arena yet again with seemingly no time off since her last multi million selling album.
This time round she takes her Hard Candy album on the road with the 'Sticky and Sweet' tour in a series of dates that sweeps the superstar across Europe from Athens to Zurich via our own sweet part of the world, the Cote d'Azur and Nice in particular.
The date in Nice's Palais Nikaia on the 26ht August did not feature in the original tour date calendar and was later added as a bonus date. It is added to a list of sold out dates with tickets disappearing in record times.
A variety of support acts have been selected to open Madonna's show from Bob Sinclair in Paris, Robyn in the UK, Paul Oakenfold and Benny Benassi for Italian fans in Rome.
Her hit song with Justin Timberlake, 4 minutes, spent several weeks at the top of the charts and Madonna has racked up her 39th club hit. With a string of hit songs, record breaking albums and untold fashion icon moments across four decades of music making the undisputed Queen of pop is tireless in the pursuit of her craft.
This album comes hot on the heels of her Confessions on a Dance floor album while the singer still has time to continue writing her series of children's books, her charity work in Malawi, her television and film projects, her fashion label, record label and be a wife and mother to three small children to mention just a few of her staggering credits.
Her previous tour, Confessions on a Dance floor, in 2006 showed in 25 countries and reached an audience of 1.3 million live fans. The album sold 8.5 million copies and the tour was the highest grossing concert ever by a female artist. Is it possible to top such lofty heights? It appears so with Madonna's Hard Candy album debuting in 27 countries at number one and cited as her greatest album ever by critics. Rolling stone magazine, amongst others, awarded the album four gold stars.
It would indeed appear that practise does make perfect and we look forward to welcoming probably the most famous chanteuse in the world to the French Riviera and Nice. |
