Prince Albert II will be welcoming an entirely different type of royalty to his tiny principality on the French Riviera tonight when Prince Rogers Nelson comes to town to perform two special concerts in one single evening.
Prince, who has also gone under the titles of an unpronounceable symbol of love and the 'artist formerly known as Prince', has flown to Monaco to perform a rare concert in the Monte Carlo Opera House this evening. He will complete two concerts over the course of the night, one in the early evening and one beginning at 11pm.
Tickets have proved next to impossible to get hold of as the exclusive venue will hold just 500 privileged fans. They went on sale at more than €200 per ticket but have, naturally, spiralled out of all proportion with tickets being bartered for €500 or more.
The bizarre pint sized performer had expressed a desire to play in the jewel like baroque Garnier rooms of the Monte Carlo Opera house which will no doubt flatter the artists well documented flare for theatre and drama.
With a career that spans more than 2 decades the flamboyant performer has often been at the forefront of controversy for his outrageous clothes, cross dressing appearance, beautiful women, his purple Michael Jacksonesque palace and his single minded dedication to musical perfection.
He has been quiet in recent years but hopefully this series of small intimate concerts could be the start of something bigger and we can look forward to more from his royal purpleness in the near future. |
