Ideal dinner dates, who hasn't thought about it in an idle moment? Who would be present if you could choose from anyone? The results usually produce an odd mix of celebrities, beauties, childhood heroes and respected decision makers that would probably make for more awkward silences than an ideal dinner party ideally should have.
"So Spiderman...is your web world wide?" "Funny Mr. Gates, and where do you get your sweaters from?"
Or so the conversation might go. What, one can't help but wonder, do Bono, Queen Rania, President Sarkozy and Carla Bruni chat about over their foie gras.
The invite list looks like the odd dinner party wish list but it appears that the rock god, the Queen, the President and the model are all friends as they gathered for dinner at the family estate belonging to Carla Bruni in the Var region of the South of France recently.
The dinner, organised by President Sarkozy, took place during his official summer break in the South of France this summer. The couple are not alone in holidaying in this region as Queen Rania was holidaying in a villa in nearby St Tropez and Bono is a regular visitor to these shores with his villa in Eze-sur-Mer.
One can only guess at how the conversation transpired but if they tired of discussing human rights issues they could always swap tips on holidaying in the South of France and the problems of helicopter transfers into St Tropez.
