Forgetting the Lisbon Treaty for a few weeks French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his glamourous ex-model wife Carla Bruni have arrived in the South of France for their annual summer holiday. The couple arrived into Toulon airport on a scheduled flight on Monday evening, 28th July 2008.
The couple will spend some time in a private villa belonging to the former model's family on Cap Negre in Le Lavandou. They will also be staying in the nearby official French Presidential summer residence, Fort de Brégançon, near the town of Bormes-les-Mimosas.
This ancient and incredible Fort is situated on a cliff face some 35 metres above the sea and was once a military post employed as a lookout for Toulon and Hyéres.
Over the centuries it has played host to many of Frances Kings, Queens and visiting dignitaries. In more recent years it has welcomed Presidents Georges Pompidou, Charles de Gaulle, François Mitterand, Jacques Chirac as well as the German Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
Perhaps with his super star wife Nicolas Sarkozy will be welcoming a more relaxed type of celebrity guest to his summer residence. The couple will no doubt be visiting the shores of St Tropez beach also where the rich and famous like to tan their elegant hides under the Mediterranean's sunny skies.
Bonne vacances Monsieur President et votre épouse, happy holidays. |
