July 14th and the Bastille Day fireworks ignited the start of the summer programme of live music and summer celebrations in Nice. Not only is the Jazz Festival under way but Nice Promenade is also rocking its own 'Prom Parties' throughout the summer months with DJ's and artists bringing hot beats from the genres of jazz, rock, samba and salsa, featuring artists from Cuba, Brazil and France.
The remaining parties take place on 22nd and 29th of July and the 5th and 15th during the month of August. The musical celebration will be accompanied by fireworks and no less than, what seems like, the entire city of Nice out on Nice Promenade in a party mood.
Continuing the live music extravaganza in Nice this summer is the 'Crazy Week Festival'. Originally called 'The Children of Rock' festival this festival has been running in various locations on the French Riviera since 2007. It is the brain child of Ivory Music whose intention it is is to showcase new talent and modern, contemporary music.
The multi cultural, multi generational and multi coloured music festival will bring the sounds of all musical genres from rock, pop, reggae, ragga, rap and folk to the stage in the Theatre du Verdure just off Nice Promenade in the city centre of Nice.
Crazy week runs for five days starting from July 19th 2011 and will welcome artists Aaron, Yodelice, Cocorosie, Louis Bertignac, Norbert Krief, The Do, Cocoon, Medi, Julian Perretta and Lilly Wood and the Prick.
Previous performers have included Pete Doherty, (if he showed up), Trust and Pink Floyd as well as a host of up and coming stars.
If large crowds, live music and a good time are not on your summer agenda then steer clear of Nice Promenade on these dates as the town will not just be rocking, it will be hopping.
