It's impossible not to think of that motley crew of crazy Hanna Barbera racers when you think of the Historic Grand Prix. The evil laughs of Dick Dastardly and Mutley in their 'Mean Machine', Penelope Pitstop in constant peril in her 'Compact Pussycat' and the lunatic antics of the Anthill Mob.
It's not just the headgear that's the same as the cartoon counterparts, it's the evil, good humoured, competitive spirit and the perilous danger that these classic beauties remember.
Visit Monaco on 1st and 2nd May for the 2010 Historic Grand Prix and see these classic Grand Prix cars raced in anger, a flashback to the days when motor racing was seriously dangerous. See a collection of our own wacky racers as they tear around a circuit that remains relatively unchanged since these cars first charged their deadly speeds here in the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's.
Historic Formula One fans will be delighted to read that the Auto Union Silver Arrows will put in an appearance at this years Historic Grand Prix in Monte Carlo.
Two of the famous 1930's silver bullet shaped car, the Type C and the Type D, will be driven in a series of demonstration laps by drivers Jacky Ickx and Hans-Joachim Stuck.
It will be the first time since 1937 that the cars will turn a wheel at the famous Monte Carlo circuit. It will be an emotional turn out for Stuck as the original car was piloted on this very same track by his own father Hans Stuck who drove for Auto Union in 1930's.
Stuck himself competes in the German Touring car series while Ickx raced in Formula One for 12 years during the 60's and 70's and is also known as 'Mr.Le Mans after winning the 24 hour race no fewer than 6 times.
